Joe Budden was born Joseph Anthony Budden II in Harlem, New York on August 31, 1980. At the age of 13, Joe, his mother, and his older brother moved to Jersey City, New Jersey.
He was a troubled teen who went to Lincoln High School.
Budden’s father was not present when he was a child, a problem he later addressed in his music.
He was sent to Laurinburg Institute, a North Carolina boarding school, for his misbehavior.
