Between the age of 7 to 11, he lived in San Francisco, California. But later at the age of 11, they moved to Gainesville Florida. There he went to Newton South High School.

He also participated in karate and Taekwondo. At the age of 19, he won the US Open Championship Taekwondo Tournament, lightweight. Later at the age of 21, he retired because of frequent headaches.

Rogan considered himself to start a career in kickboxing. He started his career as a stand-up comedian, though he didn’t have any intention of making a career in comedy. 

As a youngster, he was a fan of comedy and his parents used to take him to comedian Richard Pryor films. That profoundly affected him. 

He started doing stand-up comedy and became very successful, got a chance to sign a deal with Disney.

In 1997, he became an interviewer and commentator for the UFC. In this field, he has worked on many different projects.
