How Did YouTube Start (History)?
YouTube was founded on February 14, 2005, by Steve Chen, Jawed Karim, and Chad Hurley. They were the early employees of PayPal, they left the company when PayPal was bought by eBay. Chen and Jawed studied computer science at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, where Hurley studied design at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
There are several stories about how YouTube was founded. But the one most repeated in the media when they faced difficulty in sharing videos that had been shot at a dinner party at Chen’s apartment in San Francisco. Karim did not attend & denied that did not happen.

They began as a technology start-up based on venture capital funds. During November 2005 and April, they raised money from a variety of investors, the major two were Sequoia Capital with $11.5 million and Artis Capital Management, $8 million.
YouTube’s initial headquarters was located above a Japanese restaurant and pizzeria and in San Mateo, California. The first video on YouTube was uploaded in February 2005, by the co-founder Jawed Karim with the title “Me At The Zoo”. After the beta version was launched in November, a Nike ad video featuring Ronaldinho was the first to cross 1 million views.
