David Olaniyi Oyedepo’s birthdate is September 27, 1954, and his birthplace is Osogbo, British Nigeria.
His father Ibrahim was a Muslim healer, and his mother Dorcas was a member of the Holy Order Of The Cherubim And Seraphim Movement Church in Nigeria.
In his childhood, Oyedepo learned the virtues of Christian life from his grandmother.
He went to Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin to study architecture.
He received a Ph.D. in Human Development from Honolulu University in the United States.

After graduation, Oyedepo worked for the Federal Ministry of Housing in Ilorin. But soon in 1969, by the influence of his teacher Betty Lasher, he converted to Christianity.
In May 1981, according to him, he received a mandate from God, to liberate the world from all the oppressions of devils and preach about faith to the world.
After this vision, Oyedepo founded the Living Faith Church World Wide in 1981.
On September 17, 1983, a pastor named Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, appointed Oyedepo and his wife Faith Abiola Akano as the pastors.
In 1988, Oyedepo was appointed as bishop by his mentor, the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa.
Living Faith Church was initially located in Kaduna; but soon, it was moved to Lagos in July 1989 as Oyedepo claimed to have a conversation with god.
In 1998, he again claimed that God had ordered him to construct some new bases for the commission so that the increasing number of worshippers can easily connect to God. The construction took 12 months to complete and was ready by September 18, 1999.
Oyedepo is also an author and publisher who has written over 70 titles, apart from periodicals.
He is currently serving as the president of David Oyedepo Ministries International.
In 1992, his church opened its own publishing house called Dominion Publishing House, which publishes several inspirational books for worshippers.
