Eric Thomas was born on September 3, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois, US. He was born to a single teenage mother. He was not happy with his life and with lots of arguments with his family and aunts. He dropped out of college and stayed homeless for two years.
He walked the street roaming everywhere but one day he realized he needed a bed. His life changed when one in the street he met a preacher, Who inspired him to go to school.
Eric was doing a job at Olive Garden, on the Westside of Detroit. During this phase, he met his life partner De-De Mosley in the church. They started dating each other and one day she told her, I am not going to live with an uneducated person.
She forced him to join college. They moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and attended Oakwood University. The interesting part was that they were then married, college students.
Eric has spent 12 years to get his undergraduate degree at Oakwood University and finally graduated in 2001.
When he was in Huntsville he used to help and preach to underprivileged students by arranging programs.
Career
Eric Thomas started his career by taking a job at Michigan State University(MSU). Along with pursuing fellowship to complete his master’s degree in education leadership from MSU.
In MSU he worked as an academic adviser to disadvantaged students. There he has also developed an undergraduate retention program called “Advantages”. Which was focused on high risk-minority students.
During that time he served as a senior pastor in a church. Later on, got a master’s degree from MSU in 2005 and his master’s degree from and Ph.D. in Education Administration in 2015.
