He played a man named Lopakhin in the BBC‘s “The Cherry Orchard” in 1981.

He was also featured in the Brecht play “Schweik in the Second World War. The play was organized at the National Theatre, and he was nominated for a Laurence Oliver Award for his performance. 

In the 1980s, he appeared in many movies including “The Killing Fields,” “Comfort and Joy” and “A Private Function” (1984), “Dutch Girls” (1985), and “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen” (1987).

He played major roles in the drama films “Truly, Madly, Deeply” (1990) and “Chaplin” (1992).

His prominent movies from the 2000s include “Bright Young Things” (2003), “Miss Potter” (2006), and “How to Lose Friends & Alienate People” (2008).
