Andrew Huberman worked in the laboratory of Irving Zucker from 1998 to 2000. During that time, he was also working alongside Marc Breedlove, at the University of California, Berkeley, as a part of a team that researched how androgen exposure impacts development.

From 2000 to 2004, he worked in the laboratory of Barbara Chapman at the Center for Neuroscience at the University of California, Davis.

Huberman was also a Helen Hay Whitney postdoctoral fellow researcher in the lab of Ben Barres from 2005 to 2010.

Huberman served as an assistant professor of neurobiology and neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego, for four years from 2011.

After his shift to Stanford in 2016, he published new research work which was covered extensively in the popular press, including Time magazine. 

In 2017, Huberman’s Lab made a virtual reality platform and this work was published in Current Biology four years later.

In 2020, Huberman Lab collaborated with the laboratory of David Spiegel from the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford.
