How Was Suze Orman Early Life And Education?
Suze Orman’s real name is Susan Lynn Orman. She was born to Ann and Morry Orman, Jewish parents of Russian and Romanian origin. Her father is an immigrant from Kiev, who worked in a chicken factory, and her mother worked as a secretary for a local rabbi.
Orman was born in the south of Chicago and went to South Shore High School. Later she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and graduated in 1976, with a degree in B.A in social work.
In 2009, the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, presented her with an honorary doctorate of humane letters. In 2010, she was presented with an honorary doctorate of Commercial Science from Bentley University.
How Does Suze Orman Start Her Career?
After her college, Orman moved to Berkeley, California, and worked as a waitress. In 1980, she borrowed $52,000 from her friend to start a restaurant.
She went on to invest that money through a representative at Merrill Lynch. Though she lost her entire money. Later she started training as an account executive for Merrill Lynch. She worked there until 1983 and later she became a vice president of investments at Prudential Bache Securities.
In 1987, Orman founded “Suze Orman Financial Group”. During that time she published a booklet “The Facts on Single Premium Whole Life.” She has been the director of the firm till 1997.
