Early Life

Daniel Cormier’s real name is Daniel Ryan Cormier. He was born on March 20, 1979, in Lafayette, Louisiana, U.S. To Audrey Cormier and Joseph. He has three siblings. Older brother Joseph, younger brother Feral, and Younger sister Felicia.

He was 7 years old when his father was killed on Thanksgiving day. 

He was raised in Louisiana along with his siblings. Where he went to Northside high school for education. During his school time, he has won 3 Louisiana state championships. And till the final days of school. He has a record of 101-9.

He has won a bronze medal in the world championship in Greco Roman Wrestling under the category (15-16 years old. He was also an all-state football player at high school. 

For further studies, he attended Colby Community College in Kansas. During college, he participated in several national championships. 

After his Colby, he transferred to Division I Oklahoma State University. He went on to participate in several national tournaments. And in one match he lost to Cael Sanderson 8–4. 

After graduating with a degree in sociology, from Oklahoma State University. He focused his career on freestyle Wrestling.

Career 

He was active in wrestling in school and college. After the 2008 Olympics. He decided to focus and pursue a career in Mixed Martial Arts. He joined American Kickboxing Academy and trained under Jon Fitch, Cain Velasquez, and Josh Koscheck.

He made his professional debut in September 2009. And in 2010, he defeated Lucas Browne and won the XMMA Heavyweight Championship in Australia. After two weeks he won the Second MMA title “KOTC Heavyweight Championship” defeating Tony Johnson.

The same year Cormier signed an eight-fight deal with the Strikeforce organization. He debuted with Strikeforce Challengers: Kennedy vs. Cummings defeated Gary Frazier by TKO.

He won several b. During that time he has also defeated former UFC Heavyweight ChampionFrank Mir” in November 2012.

In 2013, he made a debut on UFC against Frank Mir at Fox 7 and won the fight. In the second UFC fight, he faced Roy Nelson at UFC 166 in October 2013 and won the fight.

In May 2014 he fought Dan Henderson at UFC 173 and defeated him in the third round.
