Chris Hansen’s real name is Christopher Edward Hansen. He was born on September 13, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. His mother was Patricia Hansen. Who supported him to shape his career.
He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan, and West Bloomfield Township. Where he went to Brother Rice High School. He was inspired by Jimmy Hoffa to become a journalist.
In 1981, he attended Michigan State University College of Communication Arts and Sciences and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunication.
Career
During his last year at Michigan State University. He began as a reporter for NBC affiliate WILX in Lansing. Then he has worked for various Tv, newspaper, and radio including, WFLA, WXYZ, and, WDIV.
In 993, he joined NBC News as a correspondent for the news magazine “Now with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric”.
Some of his most notable work for Dateline NBC was covering the Oklahoma City bombing, the Columbine High School massacre, the TWA Flight 800 disaster, the Unabomber, and reports of Indian child slave labor and drug sales in China.
He was the main person of Dateline to cover the September 11 attack. Also covering the stories on the terrorist groups and operations of Al-Qaeda. He also exposed a group linked to Osama Bin Laden.
He hosted a series of Dateline under the title “To Catch a Predator”. By using a sting operation, they caught Internet sex predators.
After his tenure for 22 years in NBC, he got dismissed in august 2013.
In 2015, he joined Investigation discovery and hosted a show called “Killer Instinct”. The same year he started his independent television show Hansen vs Predator.
The following year he hosted a show called “Crime Watch Daily”. In 2019, he started his Youtube channel “Have a Seat with Chris Hansen”. Where he uploads weekly podcasts and interviews with guests.
