Early Life & Education
Brad Fast’s real name is Bradley M. Fast. He was born on February 21, 1980, in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada.
He graduated from Michigan State University and played four seasons for the Michigan State Spartans.
Career
Fast began playing hockey at the age of 14, for his hometown Fort St. John Flyers. Then went on to play for the Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League. Fast was drafted by the Hurricanes, in the third season of his junior career.
After being drafted, he joined Michigan State University and played four seasons for the Michigan State Spartans. He was a captain for one season and a standout during his time there. And A star offensive defenceman at MSU.
In the summer of 2002, Fast signed a contract with the Hurricanes and joined the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League.
As the 2002–03 season came to an end, Fast played seven games for the Lock Monsters before joining them full time for the 2003–04 season. In his one NHL game, he scored a goal, one of only four players to do so.
He scored the team’s sixth goal with 2:26 left, sending the game into overtime tied at six. It was Fast’s first NHL goal. He is the 16th Hurricane player to score in his NHL debut.
In addition to his goal, it was also the last time a tie game was ever played in the NHL, as the league switched to shootouts the following year.
His time with the Lock Monsters during the 2004-05 lockout period was mostly spent playing with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades. In 2005-06, Fast played for the Manchester Monarchs, an AHL club of the Los Angeles Kings.
The 2006–07 season Fast signed with Langnau in Switzerland. He later played in the Austrian League for Red Bull Salzburg EC. A one-year contract was signed by him with Anyang Halla in May 2008. He became the assistant captain on September 2, 2008.
It was the first time in franchise history that an import player has been named assistant captain. He resigned, after two more years with the team. This marks the end of Fast’s career with Anyang Halla.
