Bo Jackson’s birth name is Vincent Edward “Bo” Jackson. He was born in Bessemer, Alabama, on November 30, 1962. He was named after an American actor Vince Edwards. He was his mother’s favorite actor.

Jackson was the 8th of the 10th children. He attended McAdory High School and was very good at sports. He was an active participant in football. And was recognized as the best running back.

During that time, He has won two-time state champion in the Decathlon. He also set a state record in Triple Jump and High Jump.

He was selected for the 1982 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees. But he chose to attend Auburn University on a football scholarship.

He started playing for his college football team “Auburn Tiger Football Team”, and ran for 4,303 career yards. Which was the 4th best performance in the history of the Southeastern Conference.

During his freshman year, he played in 1982. His team Auburn played Boston College in the Tangerine Bowl. They won the game by 33-26. Where Jackson made two touchdowns and rushed 14 times for 64 yards.

In 1983, they won the Sugar Bowl against Michigan and he was named the most valuable player. The following year he received the most valuable player honor after defeating Arkansas at the Liberty Bowl.

In 1985, he received the Heisman Trophy. He has rushed for 1,786 yards, the 2nd best single performance in the history of the SEC.

He retired from Auburn with 4,575 yards, 43 rushings, 45 touchdowns, and 2 receiving. With 6.6 yards per carrying average.

Jackon was ranked #8 in the Top 25 players in college football history by ESPN.

Though he played professional football during his college, in 1985, He also played baseball for MLM Team for a deal of $200,000. It was a great achievement for a 22 years old student.
