Andreas Antonopoulos is his real name. He was born on 30 January 1972, in London UK. He moved with his family to Athens, Greece during the Greek Junta. He grew up there and went to the local school for his studies.
At the age of 17, he came back to the United Kingdom. There he attended the University College of London and obtained degrees in Computer Science & Data Communication, Networks & Distributed Systems.
Career
Antonopoulos worked as a Founding Partner and Vice President of Nemertes Research from 2003 to 2011. Researching computer security.
In 2012, he came across bitcoin and got hooked. He abandoned his job as a freelance consultant. And he started speaking about bitcoin at conferences, consulting for startups, and writing articles for free.
He is the consultant for several bitcoin startups. In January 2014, he joined Blockchain.info as a Chief Security Officer, and later in September, he left the position of CSO.
In October 2014, he organized a fundraising campaign for Dorian Nakamoto, who was identified as Satoshi Nakamoto, which is not proven.
In March 2016, he published his first book Mastering Bitcoin. The following year in December, Antonopoulos received 100 BTC from his followers, after Roger Ver had tweeted, asking why he had not invested in Bitcoin at an early stage.
Then he came up with another book “Internet of Money” which was published in 2016. In 2017, he published his book “Mastering Ethereum”.
He has been featured and interviewed in several media networks including, BBC, CNBC, ABC, Bloomberg, Financial Times, and many more. He has been a repeated guest at Joe Rogan Podcast and London Real.
